Renewable Energy Components

Made-in-Vietnam solar panels and wind turbines

As Vietnam strives to meet its ambitious clean energy targets, a new industry is taking shape: renewable energy component manufacturing.

Vietnam’s renewable energy sector is booming, driven by ambitious national sustainability targets, surging domestic demand for clean energy, strong momentum in supply chain localization, cost and logistics advantage

The country is now emerging as a competitive manufacturing base for wind-turbine towers, steel flanges, solar photovoltaic (PV) glass, mounting systems, and other critical clean-energy components.
Global leaders such as General Electric and Flat Glass Group have already established advanced production facilities in Vietnam, alongside a growing cluster of global and local manufacturers supplying both utility-scale renewable projects and international export markets.

Sustainability as a Market Driver

Vietnam’s Power Development Plan VIII sets bold target to ramp up the overall contribution from renewable energy sources. 30.9–39.2% renewable-energy share by 2030, and even more ambitious 67.5–71.5% renewable-energy share by 2050.

To support this energy transition, Vietnam is fostering independent renewable energy equipment production, creating opportunities for both foreign and Vietnamese investors in this sector:

  • Around 60% of solar panels for the domestic market are produced by companies operating in Vietnam.
  • Wind turbines for 18–22% of the market are produced in Vietnam, including the General Electric plant in Hai Phong.

High-Value Component Manufacturing
on the Rise

The most significant evolution in Vietnam’s renewable-energy manufacturing landscape is the shift from low-value assembly toward advanced, capital-intensive manufacturing.

Vietnam is rapidly developing technical capability in producing wind turbine towers, large steel segments, precision flanges and heavy structural components, etc. These require heavy steel fabrication, advanced welding, high-precision engineering and advantages strengthened by Vietnam’s coastal logistics, making transporting oversized turbine parts in a cost-effective manner.

Vietnam is becoming a competitive base for solar photovoltaic (PV) glass, mounting system, inverter, etc. for solar panel systems. This positions Vietnam not only to serve domestic demand but also export markets in Asia, Europe, and North America.

As solar adoption accelerates, a parallel industry is emerging: battery energy storage solutions. Manufacturers of battery materials, battery housings, battery management systems (BMS), and energy-storage components are scaling operations in Vietnam to meet rising demand.
